John Stamos has undeniably donned countless hats in his life. From being everyone’s favorite onscreen Uncle in ‘Full House’ to the drummer for the Beach Boys, Stamos has always been in the spotlight. Yet, when the star celebrated his 60th birthday on August 19, he revealed his latest and undoubtedly most special role yet: being a father to his 5-year-old son, Billy.
In a heartwarming video shared on Instagram, the Emmy-nominated actor engaged in a candid conversation with Billy, in which the youngster affectionately referred to his father as a ‘baby’. The actor’s wife, Caitlin McHugh Stamos, also joined the family celebration, contributing to the glow of their cheerful household.
Choosing to commemorate the milestone birthday with his family, the video montage also chronicled several touching family moments of the Stamos trio, from holiday festivities to a dip in the pool in October 2018. Adding a whimsical touch, the Background score of “Pure Imagination” from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory played: a fitting reinforcement of the family’s bond and shared joyous moments.
From becoming a first-time father in April 2018 to introducing his son to his Full House co-stars Bob Saget and Lori Laughlin, Stamos has progressively embraced fatherhood with elation and warmth. This revelation was seen in the video where he asked Billy about thinking of him during his prayers, to which his son emphatically responded, ‘Of course.’
When humor lightly melded into the conversation, the Full House humor was brought back as Billy playfully proclaimed that his father “doesn’t look 60 but baby”. As the birthday bash continued, the People’s Choice Award winner’s son also explained to viewers about Stamos’ celebrated performances with the Beach Boys while acknowledging himself as a ‘big fan’.
At the heart of his Hollywood fame, the Grandfathered star’s most prided achievement seems to be his journey as a father witnessed in beautiful moments like when his son visited him on the set of his Disney+ series ‘Big Shot.’ Whether it’s gardening with Billy or celebrating the Fourth of July together, Stamos shares his life’s joyous moments openly, instilling his fatherly wisdom into his son and spreading positivity to his fans.
Going beyond glam lights and red carpets, family-man Stamos’s abundant love for his son is evident in every father-son moment, from matching Santa hat photos to posing alongside Iron Man, which Stamos humorously titled as a “UFO welcoming committee.”
Caitlin, too, shared her love for her husband on her Instagram, celebrating his lifetime achievements and hinting about an upcoming memoir that dives into Stamos’ life and accomplishments. Clearly, even at 60, Stamos shows no signs of slowing down.
Stamos has proven time and again that fame and vanity are secondary when it comes to the love he has for his family. As the intimate video concluded with a soundbite of Gene Wilder in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, we were reminded that just like the man “who got everything he always wanted,” Stamos, too, appears to be living happily ever after. Happy 60th, Uncle Jesse!
