Now residing in Los Angeles, CA, she has dedicated her life to both writing and education, merging these passions to inspire the next generation of storytellers.
Didi’s academic journey reflects her dedication to literature and learning. She holds an MFA from the University of San Francisco (2017), a BS from the University of Texas at Austin (2010), and a BA from the University of Houston (2014). Most recently, she earned a Master of Education in Private School Leadership from Teachers College at Columbia University.
Her love for literature began at an early age—Didi wrote her first story when she was just eight years old. Growing up, she was captivated by the works of literary giants such as Toni Morrison, Alice Walker, and Ntozake Shange. Today, her literary inspirations include visionary authors like Octavia Butler and Laurell K. Hamilton, both of whom have significantly influenced her storytelling approach.

Didi’s panel, titled “The Joys and Magic of Afrofantasy,” will take place on Saturday, March 29th and will feature esteemed fantasy authors Karen Parker and Omari Richards.
